Hundreds of people are expected to pay their last respects to a 24-year-old Shropshire woman, who was found dead at her family's home, at a funeral service this week.

The service for Amrit Kaur Ubhi will be held at The Guru Nanak Sikh Temple in Hadley, Telford, on Thursday at 9am followed by cremation at Telford Crematorium.

Miss Ubhi, who worked at Monsoon in Telford Shopping Centre and studied at Wolverhampton University, was found dead at her home in Berberis Road, Leegomery, Telford, on September 7. She died as a result of strangulation.

Hermohinder Uppal, general secretary of the temple, said: "We think there may be about 300 people at the service, because she was so young everybody is coming down to pay their respects to her."

Many of her colleagues from Monsoon are expected at the funeral, along with her friends from university.

Her mother Satander is expected to lead the mourners, along with her boyfriend, who she had been with for the last four years.

Amrit Kaur's father, Gurmeet Singh Ubhi, has been charged with her murder. He is due to appear before Shrewsbury Crown Court in November 16 for a plea and case management hearing. The 53-year-old remains in custody.
