A taser stun gun and a quantity of drugs have been seized by police during a raid on a home in Mid Wales. Two men have been arrested and released on police bail.

The raid took place in Llanfair Caereinion, near Welshpool, on Wednesday.

Antony Topazio, Dyfed- Powys Police spokesman, said two kilogrammes of herbal cannabis were recovered along with a number of weapons. The men have been released on bail pending further inquiries.

He said: "The two suspects from Llanfair Caereinion were arrested for possession with intent to supply herbal cannabis.

"Approximately two kilos of herbal cannabis has been recovered by police in addition to a number of weapons including a taser, an ASP extendable baton and one round of ammunition.

"They have been bailed for further detailed inquiries."

Last week, a female youth was arrested over possession of cannabis in Guilsfield following a community patrol there. But despite the arrests, the local police force has insisted that the area is not facing a major drugs problem.

Sergeant Darren Brown, of Welshpool police, said: "We don't have a major drugs problem in the area, but there are a minority of people who will continue to use drugs in their every day life which can have an impact on crime and anti-social behaviour.

"We will not tolerate drug and alcohol misuse whatsoever and encourage members of our communities to report their suspicions to us so that we can deal with individuals and groups rapidly and effectively."

All issues can be reported on the new Dyfed-Powys non-emergency number of 101 or the main line on 0845 3302000.
