Police swooped on a Shropshire home and arrested a man in the latest in a series of drugs raids across the county. Ten officers targeted an address in Newport last night following tip-offs from the public.
A 29-year-old man, who returned to the property in Underhill Close shortly after officers entered the house, was arrested.
Sergeant Chris Munro, of Newport's local policing team, said the man was arrested on suspicion of possessing class B drugs. He said some drugs paraphernalia was also recovered from the house.
"We arrested a man and took him to Telford police station after he was found to be in possession of class B drugs," Mr Munro said.
He added that the man received a fixed penalty and was released last night.
"Telford police receive a number of calls each week from the public telling them about what they have seen and heard about drugs in the area," said Mr Munro.
"This was a good example of the local police working in conjunction with the community and responding to their concerns."
Mr Munro said officers would always investigate concerns raised by the public and warned of the dangers of drug taking.
"The use of illegal drugs is a problem for people's families as well as the community," he added.
Anyone with information about suspected drug use in their area is asked to call police on 0300 333 3000 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
