Councillors object to Shropshire abattoir expansion plan
Parish councillors have objected to controversial plans to double the size of a north Shropshire abattoir for a second time.
Parish councillors have objected to controversial plans to double the size of a north Shropshire abattoir for a second time.
Members of Hordley and Bagley Parish Council have criticised the scheme by Anglo Beef Processors, near Ellesmere, to replace its current plant with a more energy-efficient complex.
The council initially objected to proposals after sharing the fears of residents that it would create more traffic and increase noise and odour levels.
The company was requested to give more information about the project as part of a further consultation after more than 100 letters of objections were submitted to Shropshire Council.
Anne Howls, for the parish council, said: "The council raised concerns about lack of information relating to tree survey study, drainage, noise, environmental issues, soil and contamination issues, odours, traffic issues, site location issues."
But ABP bosses insist plans were submitted to benefit its staff and animals and would not affect traffic and pollution.
