Letter: Recently, along with hundreds more, we went to see Joe Brown at Theatre Severn. The ticket machine refused the normal parking charge of one pound. Quite a crowd gathered at this machine trying to buy a ticket which it refused to issue.

Some said the machine was faulty, others gave up until a torch was produced to read the front of the box – £2.50 to park for all day Sunday from 8am to 8pm.

The show started at 7.30pm – it was now 7.20pm.

What a rip off, £2.50 for 40 minutes, people were angry.

Shrewsbury has been for some years very hostile to rural motorists, so much so that people visit out of town shopping centres and other towns and venues.

Is the council trying to kill off the theatre now, as it has killed off town trade?

It's about time we sacked this lot and got in some people that care about town traders.

Letter: I, too, was in the queue of angry people at the parking machine prior to the Joe Brown concert at Theatre Severn.

To have to pay £2.50 is an absolute rip-off. If someone arrived at 7.50pm for an 8pm start they would be charged £2.50 for 10 minutes' parking.

Why didn't the council consider this Sunday issue prior to the opening of Theatre Severn or would that have been asking too much?

No more Sunday concerts for me.
