A woman was being quizzed by police today after a fire at her home in Telford.
Emergency services were called to Matlock Avenue, Dawley, just before 6.40pm yesterday after a fire broke out on the ground floor of an end-terrace house.
A 42-year-old woman was led to safety by fire crews after she was found on the first floor. She was checked by paramedics but did not need medical treatment.
She was arrested at the scene on suspicious of criminal damage and arson and today remained in custody.
Chris Ammonds, spokesman for Telford police, said: "The fire appears to be of dubious origin and we are working with the fire service. A 42-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and arson and remains in custody at Malinsgate."
Rob Corfield, incident commander for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, said the fire was in the hallway of the property but was out on arrival.
He said: "We don't know the cause of the fire and that is currently under investigation."
