Comedian Jenny Eclair today became the second star to scrap a gig in Shropshire to enter the TV jungle and join I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here!

Eclair had been due on stage at Oakengates Theatre @ The Place on Saturday. But she will now face Bushtucker Trials.

It comes a week after a Shropshire music festival was scrapped as news broke Shaun Ryder, lead singer with the Happy Mondays, was joining the hit ITV1 reality show which started on Sunday.

The Happy Mondays were due to headline The Conspiracy Festival this weekend at the Berwick Road showground, Shrewsbury.

Eclair, the star of TV's Grumpy Old Women, had been due to appear at The Place as part of her Old Dog, New Tricks tour.

Theatre bosses said all those with tickets would get a refund.

Roxie Maskall, spokeswoman for Eclair's publicists, Avalon Entertainment Ltd, said today: "We can confirm that Jenny Eclair has entered the jungle to appear in I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! and has therefore rescheduled some of her tour dates from this week onwards."

Rescheduled dates alongside her new dates for the New Year will be announced early next week.

A message on the theatre website said: "Jenny has never cancelled a live show before in over 20 years of performing and hopes her fans appreciate these are very exceptional, unexpected circumstances and looks forward to seeing everyone again very soon."
