Officials want to hold more craft fairs on the streets of Oswestry after heralding their Christmas event a success.

More than 20 stalls packed onto the town's Bailey Head for the special Christmas Craft Fair last Friday.

The event attracted crowds into the town and shoppers were able to find presents from a number of Shropshire artists and craftmakers.

David Clough, retail markets and events manager for Oswestry Town Council, said: "The fair went really well.

"We were lucky with the weather and the sun came out. We had more than 20 craft stalls and there were a lot of people milling around.

"Overall it was very positive and there was good feedback.

"We had crafts from all over Shropshire.

"I have plans to hold three next year including Easter."

The craft fair was organised in conjunction with the town's Qube centre.

This Friday there will be the monthly Farmers Market on The Bailey Head with fresh produce and a woman who churns and sells her own butter.

She also gives demonstrations throughout the day and lets members of the public have a go at the churning as well.
