A church in a village near Whitchurch has been targeted by vandals, police have revealed.

The incident happened at St John the Baptist Church, Bettisfield and involved one of the windows dating back to about 1879 being smashed.

The damage was discovered at a church service on Sunday and is believed to have been caused between then and November 14.

Reverend Clive Hughes said: "It is such a pity be-cause I believe the window has been there since about 1879. Nobody got access to the church because of the iron bars so it must just have been an act of vandalism.

"It must have happened between Remembrance Sunday and this Sunday."

A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "We were informed of an incident at 11.58am on Sunday where a window had been smashed at St John the Baptist Church in Bettisfield."

Call police on 08456 071002 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 with any information about the incident.
