TV's Angela Rippon opens new care home
TV presenter and Alzheimer's Disease campaigner Angela Rippon visited Shropshire to officially open a £6.5 million care home which has created about 100 new jobs.
TV presenter and Alzheimer's Disease campaigner Angela Rippon visited Shropshire to officially open a £6.5 million care home which has created about 100 new jobs.
She performed the ribbon cutting ceremony at Greenfields in Liverpool Road, Whitchurch, yesterday aided by town mayor Councillor Alan Chesters.
Miss Rippon has supported the Alzheimer's Society for a number of years and was appointed an ambassador in 2009 to help champion the rights of people with dementia and their carers.
In the past she has spoken of caring for her mother who was diagnosed with dementia in 2004.
The new home, which has nursing services, is owned and operated by Coverage Care. It has 75 individual en suite rooms in four residential wings across two levels.
David Coull, Coverage Care chief executive, said: "We were delighted that Angela Rippon agreed to open our new home.
"Angela is an ambassador for the Alzheimer's Society and is a passionate campaigner on behalf of people with dementia."
