Dyfed-Powys Police is now urging anyone with information about the attack to come forward immediately.
They are particularly keen to trace a man who was seen in the area in the lead-up to the incident.
The girl is receiving specialist care and support, officers said today.
Detective Inspector Owain Richards, of the town's police force, said the attack happened in the early hours of New Years Day.
He added:"Police particularly want to trace a male, who is white, between 5ft 9ins and 5ft 10ins tall, in his 20s with a square jaw-line and an English accent."
