Traffic dangers on a busy trunk road near Oswestry will be highlighted at a meeting this month.

People living in the Pant, Llanymynech and Llynclys areas have been campaigning for years for improvements to the A483.

Hopes for a bypass for Pant and Llanymynech have been raised and then crushed because of a lack of funding.

Residents say that without the bypass safety improvements must be brought in. They fear that if windfarms in Powys get the go-ahead, massive lorries could soon be adding more problems.

A special public meeting will be held at the Pant Institute at 2pm on January 28 to discuss a number of current highways issues in the area.

Organised by the St Oswald and Llanymynech Local Joint Committee, the public meeting will be attended by North Shropshire MP, Owen Paterson, Keith Barrow, leader of Shropshire Council, highways officers from Shropshire Council and the Highways Agency committee members.

Councillor Arthur Walpole, chairman of the local joint committee meeting, said it was clear that highways issues were number one on the list of concerns for local people.

He added: "I would urge people from the area to show their support by attending this meeting."
