Plans for a new £1 million medical centre in Cleobury Mortimer have moved a step forward after officials identified two preferred sites that could be used for the building.
A proposal to build the centre is being drawn up by developers Bovis Homes and healthcare contractors Matrix Medical and should be ready by the end of the month.
The two potential sites are at the former Muller England plant and the nearby former JAG Glazing site. Both sites are owned by Bovis with plans to build more than 90 homes approved for the Muller England site.
Now those behind the project must wait to see if the plans are given the go-ahead by Shropshire County Primary Care Trust. The Cleobury proposal is one of seven being considered.
The decision on the prefered sites was made after the New Cleobury Mortimer Medical Centre Action Gr- oup met for the first time last week. It includes representatives of the surgery's patient participation group, surgery management, par- ish and unitary councillors, Bovis and Matrix.
Campaigners have been calling for a new medical practice to replace the existing one used at Pinkham.
Jenny McCrorie, chairman of Cleobury Mortimer PPG, said it was positive news but no progress could be made until the PCT gave the project the go-ahead.
