An inquest has opened on a 20-year-old Shropshire-based soldier who was killed serving in Afghanistan.

An inquest has opened on a 20-year-old Shropshire-based soldier who was killed serving in Afghanistan.

Ranger David Dalzell of 1st Battalion the Royal Irish Regiment, based at Tern Hill, near Market Drayton, died on February 4 after he was accidentally shot by a comrade, his family said.

Mr David Ridley, Coroner for Wiltshire and Swindon, has opened and adjourned the inquest.
