Residents in a south Shropshire town could be forced to wait for up to 10 years for a new medical practice if a land deal cannot be struck within the next four weeks, it has been claimed.

Jenny McCrorie, chairman of Cleobury Patients Voice, said unless a site for a planned £1 million medical practice was confirmed the town would miss out on funding for the project.

She has called a public meeting in the town on Wednesday in a last ditch attempt to get residents, councillors and developers together to find a solution.

Potential locations on the former Muller England and JAG Glazing site have been identified, but negotiations have stalled in recent weeks.

The town's existing facilities at Pinkham have been deemed too cramped, with many services already provided at alternative locations in the town.

Mrs McCrorie said: "If our plan gets funding but we can't secure a site we would miss out on the funding."

Wednesday's meeting is at 7.30pm in St Mary's Church, Cleobury Mortimer.
