Bosses of a Shropshire paintball centre today said they been forced to step up security after thieves stole £1,000 of equipment and caused £2,000 of damage.

The thieves targeted Warped Paintball in Tong Castle Wood in Cosford and stole paintball guns, paint bombs and equipment.

Tim Taylor, director, said it was the second theft in recent weeks and he warned thieves of the risk they are taking as West Midlands Police used the site for police dog training regularly.

Mr Taylor said the latest incident, which happened between 5.20pm on Saturday and 7.50am on Sunday, came just two weeks after the front gates to the site, worth £1,000, were stolen.

He said: "The equipment they took were empty shells and game enhancement equipment as we don't keep any of the actual equipment for the games on site.

"The value was about £1,000 and a further £2,000 of damage was caused by them actually breaking in.

"We have now increased our front gate security, including security cameras and steel bars and we've recently started police dog training here.

Police said the thieves stole six Tippman paintball guns, about 200 pyrotechnic paint bombs, along with a number of Proto paintball goggles and some flashbombs. Anyone with information should contact police on 0300 333 3000.
