Letters: Let Wellington route remain Larkin Way
Letter: A young graduate in his first job in a strange town writes show-off derogatory remarks to university friends in private letters which carry as much weight as a late night chat after a few pints.

He then carries on to do his job so well that the town invites him back to open its new library and names a road after him.
Now George Evans, a respected Wellington former teacher, who in the past apparently had no objections to the road being called Larkin Way, wants the name changed.
He writes a public letter to the Shropshire Star calling anyone who wants to retain the name "literary snobs".
No George, they're just fellow townspeople who happen to disagree with you but do not go in for name calling. Perhaps because they are worldly-wise enough to realise that they would be left with red faces if all their juvenile private letters were published.
But then Andrew Motion would be unlikely to devote enormous effort to writing their biography and so make those unguarded words public.
