Firefighters spent more than three hours at the home before the Environment Agency was drafted in to deal with the spill.
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "The oil tank split at the base and crews used environmental packs that were put down over drains to prevent liquid getting into them."
A spokeswoman for the Environment Agency said officers would be going back out to the scene of the burst tank later today to assess any damage to the area.
