No potential operator has yet been linked to either site, with one of the applicants saying there has been limited interest from developers so far.
Keith Roberts, whose site was the second to win planning permission, was successful with his outline application to create a motel on the site.
He instigated a nearly 1,000-name petition opposing a similar scheme put forward by local landowner Arthur Bevan, which was the first of the two to be given the go-ahead by planners.
About 20 campaigners attended a meeting of Shropshire Council's strategic planning committee in September to protest at Mr Bevan's plans.
Mr Roberts said his rival scheme came about because he and campaigners would rather see a motel built on a different site to address the access concerns of Mr Bevan's application.
Mr Roberts said today: "We haven't had much interest yet, but it means anyone wishing to build a motel will have two sites to choose from."
Campaigners objected to Mr Bevan's original application on the grounds of road safety, pollution and visual impact.
There were also fears a motel would take business from existing accommodation providers in the local area.
Concerns were also raised about safe access to Mr Bevan's site from the A41 and A53.
