Letter: Why move the Wellington community clock?

Letter: As a lifelong Wellingtonian I was very surprised and somewhat saddened to learn that Wellington Town Council has put forward a plan to remove the Wellington community clock from Market Square or to move it to one of two unsuitable and inappropriate sites.

This is totally the opposite of what the public voted for last year in a survey, when most voted for the clock to remain in its present location as it has become an iconic and valued addition to the Wellington townscape.

Will the council please explain the reasons for these proposals? I feel a full and open discussion would be of benefit as the council does not have the mandate for this action. It should not be done "behind closed doors".
