Richard Ewels, a spokesman for West Mercia Police, said a 28-year-old from Shrewsbury was arrested by Staffordshire police in Cannock last night on suspicion of obtaining money from businesses through fraudulent claims concerning leukaemia victims.
He has been taken into custody at Shrewsbury police station and was today being questioned about a series of suspected frauds during March.
Mr Ewels said: "He has been arrested on suspicion of committing fraud by dishonestly obtaining services and also criminal damage."
