A south Shropshire pub which has been closed for about five months has been snapped up by new buyers.

The Travellers Rest Inn on the A49 at Upper Affcot, near Craven Arms, has been sold after several months on the market.

It had been closed since November after the previous owners put the pub up for sale. Six years ago the venue was put on the market for £1.5 million but this time has sold for a figure around the £375,000 asking price.

Sonia Matharu, of Birmingham-based selling agents Christie and Co, said the new owners hoped to re-open the venue in the very near future.

She said: "The sale was concluded on Thursday and it was for around the asking price.

"It has been on the market since 2010 but the new owners are looking to start trading very soon."

The pub has 12 en-suite bedrooms, parking spaces for 40 cars, a substantial paddock and gardens and owners' accommodation.

In 2005 the venue was offered for sale through Colliers Robert Barry.
