Letter: I am a long-standing Rotarian, and it is becoming plain to see that no-one wants to volunteer to join. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Wem and District, and it is more and more difficult to recruit members.

The people we need are usually between the ages of 30 and 60 years, but younger or older would be welcome.

We have tried, and all the wonderful people of Wem and district do support the club, but volunteers are very scarce on the ground.

We do a great deal of work for the area, and as a small club our record is exemplary. Last year we raised over £30,000 for local and overseas charities.

The club is now down to 23 members, half are over 70 years of age, and we do need new blood to carry on our crucial work for the community at large, and local charities. If you have some time to spare and wish to join us please contact me, and I would be more than happy to talk to you.

If I may take this opportunity to thank all the people of Wem and district, who contribute so much to our charity work I would appreciate it. Without that support we would not be as successful.

Rotarian Ted Davies

Past President,

Rotary Club of Wem & District
