Mr Fuchs, of Whitehall Street, Shrewsbury, and formerly of Bridgnorth, was originally a teacher in Wolverhampton, before moving on to a producing role at Beacon Radio in the 1970s.
Following his stint at Radio Shropshire, he spent the later years of his career as a lecturer in visual communications at the University of Central England in Birmingham.
He retired early, moving to Malaga with his wife in 2007 for a short time before returning to Shropshire.
Mrs Fuchs said: "He had a lot of interests. He was into cycling and loved his motorbikes. He had lots of different ones over the years, about 17 in eight years.
"He sailed across the Atlantic in a friend's boat for the Millennium. They went from Gambia to the Caribbean."
The popular entertainer leaves three children — Erica and Sam — from his first marriage and Saskia from his second. He also leaves three grandchildren.
