Mr Croft, who is keeping a bedside vigil at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, said his daughter was now out of intensive care and continuing her recovery after a successful operation.
But dreams of going to the prom are foremost in Zoe's mind as she battles back to health. He said: "Zoe already has a ticket for the prom at the Albright Hussey.
"She really wants to go, even if she can only manage it for an hour, because she's missed the last couple of weeks of school and really wants to see off her friends and teachers.
"She's very keen on the idea and we hope she can attend. It's less than four weeks away."
