A new farmers' market is to open for business in a Shropshire town next week after years of failed bids to start a successful one.
Telford & Wrekin Council is launching the market in Newport next Thursday. It will be held in The Square and around the Butter Cross and is the latest development in Telford & Wrekin Council's efforts to breathe fresh life into market towns across the borough.
The town's market had been in St Mary Street in 2007 but failed to take off.
Several other attempts were made to revive the market and move it to New Street car park amid claims it would prove more popular.
But that idea also failed to materialise effectively and further attempts were made to move it to Mere Park and central square.
Newport Farmers' Market will take place on the third Thursday of the month for the next six months and be on a small scale, trial with up to 10 stalls.
