Severn Trent spokesman, Rob Salmon, said: "The burst pipe was caused at about 7.15am and we had someone on site within 45 minutes."
He said an engineer had been sent out by the company to assess the damage to the 6in mains pipe, with a clean-up team dispatched to fix the problem shortly afterwards.
While the majority of homes in the village were reconnected to a different water supply within about 30 minutes, 36 properties were still without water at lunchtime today.
Severn Trent was hoping to have water reconnected to the remaining properties this afternoon.
