A Telford man who raped a 16-year-old girl on an industrial estate was today jailed for five years. The victim was left emotionally scarred, frightened and self-harmed after the attack.

Dino Noto, of Oakengates, who denied rape, was convicted after a four-day trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court in May.

The court heard how the 34-year-old had been drinking before taking the teenager to remote industrial building and raping her on April 15 last year.

Judge Robin Eades, in sentencing at Stoke Crown Court, also placed Noto, of Maurice Lee Avenue on the sexual offenders register for life and gave him a sexual offences prevention order banning him from having any contact with the victim.

Judge Eades said: "You went far too far, you rode roughshod over her objections and raped her in a remote place away from help."

Ms Raj Punia, prosecuting, read a harrowing victim impact statement written by the teenage girl.

Ms Punia said: "Her life has completely changed as a result of the offences. She no longer enjoys going out, it's caused great distress.

"She suffered the trauma of coming to court and having to give evidence.

"Her sleep has been affected, she finds it difficult to be in a relationship as a result of what's happened to her. She is very frightened and has had counselling because of the affect it has had on her and she initially self-harmed."

Mr David Potter, for Noto, said: "It's undeniable that any offence of rape will cause consequences for the victim.

"He has previous convictions, that's undeniable. There are no offences recorded against him of a sexual nature at all."
