The New Saints have lodged a planning application to build an overflow car park at their Park Hall stadium.

Club officials say they also want to use land near The Venue on Burma Road for recreation and leisure use.

In planning papers submitted to Shropshire Council, agent Michael Hughes said the club was seeking permission to change the use of the land.

Mr Hughes said club owner Mike Harris was in negotiations with the authority to buy four hectares of land.

Neighbour Robyn Hawkins has objected to the plans in writing, saying: "As a neighbour to The Venue, I strongly object to this application as do many of the people I have spoken to about it."

Whittington Parish Council also aired concerns about the plan.

The Oswestry-based Welsh Premier League outfit lost their home Europa League first leg tie against Danish side Midtjylland 3-1 last night.
