Every member of Ludlow Town Council has been retrained on code of conduct rules amid claims a councillor failed to declare an interest in a debate, it has been revealed.

A new report has shown a solicitor offered advice to all 11 town councillors at a private session on March 29 this year at the request of Shropshire Council's assessment sub-committee.

The move followed an allegation that an unnamed member failed to declare a personal or prejudicial interest in an item debated at a meeting on December 14 last year.

Town clerk Veronica Calderbank said all members were invited to have the training due to a widespread lack of understanding about how to properly declare personal and prejudicial interests in the correct manner.
