And the SVR is considering getting involved in proposals to provide a link from Bridgnorth to the Ironbridge Gorge.
But bosses at the heritage steam railway said the "very aspirational" proposals could be 20 years away from becoming reality.
Nick Ralls, SVR general manager, said: "Proposals for an extension of the railway into the Ironbridge Gorge have been mooted for a long time, however there have always been more important priorities for the Severn Valley Railway."
