The dairy which is laying off 350 Minsterley workers is to be taken over by a Irish company, it was confirmed today.

Greencore's takeover of Uniq has been approved by the Irish Competition Authority.

The food firm's takeover of the firm will now go ahead next month, despite union officials laying the blame for the job losses at Greencore's door.

Jennie Formby, Unite's national officer for the food and drink sector, said: "We are very concerned these job losses have been announced just days before Uniq is taken over."
