Shrewsbury Town stars helped a primary school celebrate its official reopening after the completion of refurbishment work. Mount Pleasant Primary School, in Bagley Drive, was formed in September 2009.
This was a result of an amalgamation between Mount Pleasant Junior and Mount Pleasant Infants.
The school had been operating out of two sites until the start of this academic year, when 14 months of refurbishment work was finished on the site of the old junior school.
About £2.5 million from the Government's Building Schools for the Future scheme went into creating new classrooms, as well as decking and covered areas so children can have some lessons outside.
Other new additions include a studio, kitchen and redeveloped play area.
To mark the occasion, Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner visited the school yesterday for the official opening ceremony.
Headteacher Alan Brannen said: "It was completed the day before we came back to school on September 5. There are still some things to do but we can use it.
"We are all under one roof now and it really feels we are now one school.
"We opened in September 2009 and at that point we were using two sites. Now we are all together.
"I am looking forward to a bright future for the school," he added.
