Two people have been taken to hospital in Telford after a crash in Donnington.

The two-car collision happened just before 9.45pm yesterday on The Parade, just off Wrekin Drive.

Police, a crew from Wellington Fire Station and West Midlands Ambulance personnel rushed to the scene to the casualties – a man and a woman.

Fire crew manager Ian Pugh said firemen cleared a fuel spillage from the cars while paramedics treated the drivers.

He said: "Both of the saloon cars had front-end damage and will most likely have to be written off.

"We isolated the fuel and cleared it from the road which remained open. The drivers of the cars were treated at the scene and were then taken to Princess Royal Hospital as a precautionary measure."

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "Inquiries are ongoing into the cause of the crash.

"We recovered the vehicles and cleared debris left on the road."
