Crowds enjoy Ironbridge fireworks fun

About 6,000 people enjoyed a massive display of fireworks as celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the historic Ironbridge Gorge becoming a World Heritage Site came to a spectacular end.

About 6,000 people enjoyed a massive display of fireworks as celebrations to mark the 25th anniversary of the historic Ironbridge Gorge becoming a World Heritage Site came to a spectacular end.

Colourful lighting lit up the Iron Bridge and other landmarks as part of the celebrations on Saturday.

And organisers today hailed the success of the event, which they said attracted visitors in force.

Paul Gossage, of Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, said: "I think there were about 6,000 people there in the evening.

"Standing on the gorge looking back to the hill there were people all the way along it."
