Work to revamp Tenbury Wells' Georgian Grade II listed cinema will begin next week.
The Regal Cinema will close on Monday for at least six months while restoration work is carried out.
Town clerk Dawn Worgan said leaders of the project, which has received £680,000 Heritage Lottery Funding, hoped to resume film screenings by next July in time for its 75th anniversary.
Open days would be held tomorrow and Saturday between 11am and 3pm to give people the opportunity to see what the cinema is like before work starts.
