Council chiefs are being asked to push ahead with a masterplan to transform Shrewsbury town centre over the next 20 years with multi-million pound housing, retail and public transport schemes.

The regeneration of the town could see shops, restaurants, cafes and bars being built, creating a wealth of jobs. The development could also include a food store, a department store and, potentially, a hotel.

Award-winning architect and designer Broadway Malyan was appointed to develop the Shrewsbury Vision earlier this year with a range of ideas put forward.

Members of Shropshire Council's cabinet will be asked on Wednesday to approve the Shrewsbury Vision Regeneration Framework as a key policy and to guide approval of planning applications within the town.
