An £18.5 million school will be built in Dawley after proposals were rubber-stamped at a meeting.

The council's plans board met last night to discuss the new Phoenix School and approved plans to build a 900-place sports and learning community on Paddock Mount.

It will have a sixth form and share the 35-hectare Paddock Mount site with hundreds of homes and a supermarket.

Great Dawley parish councillor Brian Duce said the plan was 'another step towards the regeneration of Dawley'.
