More than 150 homes and businesses were left without electricity in parts of rural Shropshire when an overhead power line was damaged.
The power failed just before 7.30am yesterday, as families in the north of the county were getting ready for school and work.
About 180 customers in areas including Wem and Weston-under-Redcastle were affected by the power failure.
Utility company Scottish Power said electricity was returned to 130 properties within 20 minutes, while the remaining 50 had theirs returned yesterday afternoon.
Margaret Edwards, from Weston-under-Redcastle, said: "It went off about 7.30pm and didn't come back on until 3.15pm. It not only meant we had no power, but no water as well.
"There's not a lot you can do so you have just got to try and get by. We have been using the picnic stove."
A spokeswoman for Scottish Power said: "The problem involved an overhead network. "We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused."
