Up to 15 jobs at GKN Autostructures in Telford could be axed after a review of the company.

Bosses at GKN, which is one of the largest employers in the town, said all areas of the business were being looked at and they hoped the reduction would be from voluntary redundancies.

A spokesman for GKN Autostructures, at Hadley, said: "GKN in Telford employs about 800 people.

"It is true to say we are always reviewing our processes and procedures and are consulting with employees at the moment.

"The numbers affected are very small and we hope the only reductions will be achieved through voluntary redundancies.

"The jobs in question are across all areas of the company. The review procedure is expected to be finished by the end of this month."

He said there would be no more than 15 job losses, and it could be half that.

Stefan Blasczyk, a spokesman for Unite Union, said: "I accept that 15 jobs may be a small number, but behind 15 jobs there may be 15 families, and all cuts can affect communities."
