The 11-year-old grandson of a Shropshire woman who was killed in a tragic accident this year is to climb Mount Snowdon in her memory.

Caelum Dickens, from Ford near Shrewsbury, is preparing for the climb in early spring and hopes to raise £1,000 for Hope House Children's Hospice.

He will walk in memory of his late grandmother Alison Jones, who was crushed to death under a fallen wall in her garden in Whit Grit near Minsterley in February.

An inquest was told that the 51-year-old may have been pulling at a climber to dislodge it from the wall when it collapsed.

Caelum's mum Charlotte Jones, 31, said her mother had always enjoyed the outdoors and Caelum was keen to do the walk as a tribute to her.

She said: "All three of us would often go on walks together, my mum was very keen on the outdoors so Caelum wanted to do something like this for her.

"He is looking forward to the climb, he has done it before but with a rest in the middle."

Ms Jones added that she would be accompanying Caelum on the walk and that he hoped to complete the climb in eight hours.
