The newly appointed High Sheriff of Shropshire has been honoured for clocking up 50 years of service as a scout leader.
John Abram MBE, who lives in Oswestry, joined the 26th Shrewsbury Scout Group in Harlescott as an eight-year-old cub in 1951.
He was presented with an award for his 50 years of service at an evening held at Henlle Park Golf Club in Gobowen earlier this month.
The presentation evening was hosted by Shropshire Borders District Scouts and the Vice Lord Lieutenant, Col Edmund Thewles OBE handed out the awards to the recipients. It was announced on the evening Mr Abram would become the district president until April 2014.
