Scout leader made Freeman of Ellesmere

A dedicated Scout leader has been made an Honorary Freeman of Ellesmere after nearly 50 years' service.

A dedicated Scout leader has been made an Honorary Freeman of Ellesmere after nearly 50 years' service.

Graham Hinton, group master for the town's Scout group was awarded a certificate at last night's Ellesmere Town Council meeting.

The certificate was awarded to Mr Hinton by Councillor Alan Clarke, mayor of Ellesmere.

Councillor Clarke described Mr Hinton's loyalty to the Scout's as 'exemplary'.

Mr Hinton said he wanted to thank the town council and said he would treasure the award for the rest of his life.

Councillor Keith Barrow, Shropshire Council leader, also praised his efforts.

He said: "I am pleased I am here to see that. That is a tough act to follow."
