Temperatures plummeted over the weekend following heavy rain and snow which led to ice on the roads across Shropshire and Mid Wales.

A woman in her 50s was airlifted to hospital yesterday after her car hit a tree on the Shropshire and Staffordshire border. It happened on the B5415 between Woore and Loggerheads just after 8.40am.

In another incident a car ended up on its roof on the A49 at Wistanstow, near Craven Arms, at 8.20am on Saturday. Police say they believed the accident was due to ice on the road. No one was seriously injured.

In north Shropshire a car and a heavy goods vehicle were involved in a collision between Stoke on Tern and Hodnet, near Market Drayton at about 10.30am, on Saturday.
