The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust in Telford is one of just 16 museums across the country which will share the Arts Council England cash.

The organisation, which distributes money from the Government and the National Lottery, said the final amount had not yet been decided, but it will receive cash every year for three years.

The trust's proposal was 'to achieve excellence through the development of their collections, by building new cultural partnerships and by developing the number of visitors'.

Alan Davey, chief executive of Arts Council England, said: "The museums have been chosen for the excellence of their work, innovative approaches to connecting audiences, and for compelling future plans."
