Burglars targeted six homes in Whitchurch in the space of just a few hours, police said today.

Jewellery, a laptop, a camera and perfume were among the items stolen in raids on properties in Chester Road, Dodington, Sharps Drive, Kingsway and two homes in Smallbrook Road.

Police said the burglars got into the properties by forcing patio and conservatory doors, removing beading around a window and smashing a window.

Officers said most of the spate of house burglaries were thought to have taken place, between 6pm and 8pm on Saturday.

Richard Ewels, a West Mercia Police spokesman, said today: "It's likely the same people were responsible for all these crimes. We are appealing for witnesses, especially concerning anyone seen acting suspiciously at the various locations.

"If you have any information which might help the police, contact Whitchurch police station on the 101 non-emergency number."

Information can also be given to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
