Fresh tributes were today paid to a pilot killed in a plane crash in Mid Wales.

Steve Carr, 55, of Ruthin, North Wales, died last Wednesday when the twin-engine plane he was flying in came down on Long Mountain, near Welshpool.

Bob Jones, 60, owner of Welshpool Airport, also died in the crash.

Today Steve's brother Mick Carr and his sister Sue Gibson paid tribute to their 'beautiful' and 'wonderful' brother, who was born and raised in Market Drayton but left the area in his mid 20s.

They said: "Steve was our wonderful and beautiful brother who died so tragically in a small aeroplane on Long Mountain near Welshpool.

"He had recently retired from Easyjet, and was looking forward to many years concentrating on his family, his music, and his love of flying.

"Steve lived in a beautiful farmhouse in the Welsh hills, that he had used all his many skills to lovingly restore. He shared this home with his wife Tara, two stepsons Ben and Finlay, and his little girls Hannah and Phoebe.

The siblings, who, like their brother, went to the Grove School, said they also wanted to thank everyone who had offered them support.

"To have lost Steve so tragically has devastated all the family and we would like to thank all our friends for their love and support," they said. "He has gone from our lives but we will take him into the future. Never to be forgotten."
