A beauty boss had to find new members of staff to cover a baby boom at her salon in Telford – only for one of them to fall pregnant too.

KLF Hair and Beauty in Madeley has seen no less than seven members of its 18 staff fall pregnant or give birth in the last 12 months. The girls have all become pregnant since March last year leaving staff with the notion that something must be in the salon's water.

Five of the staff have already given birth while the remaining two will have their babies in May and July.

Salon co-owner Lisa Westwick said she has been in business for two decades, including 18 years in Madeley, and has never seen so many staff get pregnant.

The first to become a mother last March was junior assistant Nina Cosco, followed by stylist Carly Patterson in April, Sally McGlynn, also a stylist, in June, junior assistant Leah Perry in September and beauty therapist Jodie Westwood in October.

Waiting to give birth in May is stylist Kirsty Lewis and colleague Amy-Jo 'AJ' Jordan is expected to deliver in July.

Miss Westwick, who owns the business in Horseshoe Court with fellow hairdresser Kim Westwood, said: "We are celebrating being in business 20 years this year and I have never seen this happen.

"But it has been fun. In some ways it's shocking and we were joking saying there must be something in the water. I was left thinking 'how many more people are going to get pregnant'. There certainly seems to be a big baby boom this year. Other business people have said the same thing."
