Officers also found a haul of harvested cannabis, worth a further £3,000.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and production of cannabis and is being questioned at Shrewsbury police station.

Officers smashed down the door to the four-bedroomed property in Wyvern, Woodside, shortly before 9am yesterday.

Up to 10 officers from Madeley local policing team were involved in the raid.

The electricity supply was cut off at the property before the operation in case there were any booby traps set.

Sergeant Louis Hylton, of Madeley local policing team, said the operation was a success after receiving information through Crimestoppers.

Mr Hylton said: "We forced entry into the property at 8.51am and found two rooms with a large number of mature cannabis plants, along with harvested cannabis."

Mr Hylton added: "This operation shows we take the production, supply and use of illegal drugs very seriously and will not be tolerated in Telford."
