AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton is bracing himself for some frantic late wheeling and dealing in the final days of the January transfer window.

Sinton, whose side were away at Grimsby this afternoon, expects to be glued to his phone as the Tuesday deadline looms.

"I'm sure it will be a crazy weekend and couple of days," said Sinton.

"You brace yourself for one or two surprises and hope the things you want to do can come off.

"I can't really say I enjoy it – I will be quite happy when we get to Tuesday and I can focus on what we've got and getting to work on the training ground."

Sinton also had strong words for the football agents, which he feels serve no useful purpose at this level.

"They've got a job to do, but you can't tell me people at Conference level really need to have an agent," he said. Ben Futcher didn't use an agent when we signed him, neither did Chris Blackburn or Steve Jones and they are all experienced players."

Meanwhile, Sinton has backed Greg Mills to get his career back on track after allowing the winger to leave and join Worcester City.

"He's got bags of potential but I think he's paying the price for not having had a proper pre-season," said boss Andy Sinton.

"He came to us almost on the rebound after going around on trial all over the place. I had a long chat with him earlier in the week and he was philosophical and understands.

"I've got a lot of time for Greg, he's a good lad and I wish him all the best."

There could also be another departure in the offing, with midfielder Courtney Pitt is set to leave the club in the next few days.
